Biden Lied About The Iraq War | 2020-candidate-facts

March 15, 2020: Joe Biden seems confused about what voting to go to war means. He claims that he voted FOR the war so that they could avoid war.....he voted for the war to "find out" if there were any weapons of mass destruction. He said he "trusted" that Bush wouldn't actually go to war. However, they told the public (and we went to war on the lie) that they KNEW there were nuclear weapons.

September, 2019: Biden did an interview on NPR with host Asma Khalid where he lied about his stance on the war in Iraq. He is quoted as saying "That moment it started, I came out against the war at that moment". This is a blatant lie that is easily debunked. The US invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003. Months after the invasion began in 2003, he told CNN "I, for one, thought we should have gone in Iraq". In July of 2003, during a public hearing, he said "I voted to go into Iraq, and I'd vote to do it again". He also made statements like this: "Contrary to what some in my party might think, Iraq was a problem that had to be dealt with sooner rather than later. So I commend the president. He was right to enforce the solemn commitments made by Saddam. If they were not enforced, what good would they be?". For the record: there were never weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and everyone in power knew it. This was a lie fed to the public to justify a for-profit war.

August, 2019: Joe Biden appoints former Bush appointee, Nicholas Burns, who also fully supported the illegal Iraq war. Burns was the Under-Secretary of Political Affairs at the U.S. State Department and served on the National Security Council under George W. Bush. Burns also worked for Cohen Group, a "global lobbying and influence firm” that “represents weapon-makers and other companies with interests in the U.S. and overseas.” Burns also worked for Goldman Sachs.
